About Darren Cook

I was born and raised in Nova Scotia on the Aspotogan peninsula which is located on the beautiful South Shore. Upon graduating from Acadia University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 2004, I decided I wanted an adventure so I went to Japan for a year to teach English and see a bit of the world. I knew no one and nothing of Japan but I fell in love with the country and culture. One year somehow turned into 16 but while I was there I was able to travel to 5 continents and nearly 40 countries. I’ve been to much of the world but there really is no place like home and no place quite like Nova Scotia with its stunning scenery, relatively affordable real estate and warm people.

I finally decided to move home in April 2020 to be closer to family. I had my flight booked and my resignation papers submitted when the pandemic hit and my flight was, of course, cancelled. I finally made it home in October of that year and continued teaching English online while considering what I wanted to do next that would make use of my education.

I really enjoy puttering around the garden, both flowers and vegetables (if the pests don’t get them). I also hope to travel again in the future when things go back to normal.
